- Awarded in Davos, during the World Economic Forum, this recognition was attended by leading personalities from the business and financial world.
This afternoon, Forbes España honoured Toni Ruiz, CEO of Mango, with the 'Best Vision of the Future 2025' award at a ceremony held in Davos (Switzerland) during the World Economic Forum, consolidating the recognition of business leaders who promote strategic transformations in their sectors.
The event, which brought together leading figures from the business, financial, and institutional worlds, highlighted Ruiz's leadership at the helm of Mango and his ability to drive the company's international expansion. The award ceremony, which underlines Forbes España's commitment to innovation and strategic vision in the global economy, was held during an exclusive dinner attended by, among others, Josep Oliu, Rafael del Pino, Marteen Wetselaar, César González Bueno, Carme Artigas, Carlos Torres, the Spanish ambassador to Switzerland, Celsa Nuño, and the Minister for the EU and Foreign Affairs, Jaume Duch.
Since joining Mango in 2015, Toni Ruiz has led the company’s transformation. In 2015, Mango faced a complex situation, with negative results and high levels of debt. In 2018, Ruiz took over as General Manager and just over a year later, he was appointed CEO. During these years, Mango regained its unique positioning, returned to profitability, and reduced its high debt.
In 2023, Mango achieved a turnover of 3.1 billion euros, setting an all-time record in the company's history and delivering extraordinary results. Ruiz has also managed to turn Mango into a company that is growing faster than the market, with an ideal financial position to continue expanding in the future. After accumulating years of experience and professional leadership at the multinational Leroy Merlin, Toni Ruiz’s arrival at Mango marked the definition of ambitious strategic priorities, the institutionalisation of internal processes and methods, and the establishment of governance, culminating in the creation of the first board of directors in March 2024, composed of independent professionals of recognised prestige.
Under his leadership, Mango has managed to differentiate itself from its competitors with a unique value proposition and a business model that places the customer at the centre. His passion for retail has led Mango to become the fashion company with the most store openings worldwide since 2018, including over 300 openings in 2024 alone.
Andrés Rodríguez, President and Publisher of Forbes España, highlighted the significance of the event: "In a week when the world's eyes are on Davos, our 'Best Vision of the Future' award takes on special significance. The choice of Toni Ruiz as this year's recipient reflects the excellence in leadership and strategic vision that we aim to recognise. Under his leadership, Mango has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving global marketplace."
For the CEO of Mango, Toni Ruiz, "this recognition comes at a special and emotional time, just one month after the death of Isak Andic. Isak has been, and continues to be, the soul of Mango: the person who has inspired, guided, and instilled in us a unique culture that defines us. Today, we owe everything we are to him. We are at the best moment in Mango's history. We are one of the leading global fashion groups, with enormous opportunities and challenges ahead of us. Our strategic plan through to 2026 foresees an increase in our turnover from 3.1 billion euros in 2023 to more than 4 billion euros. To achieve this, we will reinforce our unique value proposition and consolidate our business model with a strong drive for expansion," he concluded.
Mango, one of Europe's leading fashion groups, is a global company with design and creativity at the heart of its model and a strategy based on constant innovation, the pursuit of sustainability and a complete ecosystem of channels and partners. Founded in Barcelona in 1984, the company closed 2023 with a turnover of 3.1 billion euros, with 33% of its business coming from the online channel, and a presence in more than 120 markets.
