Mango gains almost 900,000 new online customers during the lockdown
With this increase, Mango now has nearly 6 million active customers in its e-commerce
The company increased its online turnover by almost 50% during this period
Mango has gained almost 900,000 new online customers during the months of lockdown as a result of COVID-19. Thanks to this major increase, the company now has close to 6 million active customers on its e-commerce platforms.
This increase in new customers partly explains the major growth in turnover achieved in this channel between 15 March and 1 June. Mango turnover grew by nearly 50% compared to the same period in 2019. During the same period, the multinational has also registered over 140 million visits to its e-commerce platforms, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.
As Toni Ruiz, Mango CEO, explains “in 2019, Mango online sales already accounted for 24% of our total turnover. And this year, our e-commerce channel has exceeded the initial growth target of 20%, which is without doubt an excellent figure”.
“The lockdown caused by the COVID-19 health crisis has intensified the process of digital transformation within the sector. The fact that we launched our e-commerce business 20 years ago has allowed us to face this exceptional circumstance with full guarantees and the capacity to deal with the growth in e-commerce. We will continue to accelerate the digital transformation of the entire company”, Ruiz adds.
Mango closed 2019 with a 26.7% growth in online sales, totalling 564 million euros, which represents 24% of total group turnover.
